(More customer reviews)First the limitations: You cannot get sound out of both your desktop speakers and the A-250 at the same time, and the wireless connection is only about 85% reliable, even within its advertised range of 30 meters. Sound cuts out if there are too many thick walls between the transmitter and the speakers. Also, other electronics, microwaves, and my 2.5 GHz cordless telephones can interfere with the signal to the A-250.
If you can tolerate these limitations, then you can consider the great pleasures of the A-250:
-- Easy set-up. It honestly took me three minutes to get sound from my XP system using RealPlayer to the A-250. You plug in the transmitter to a USB port, press the blue button on top of the transmitter for two seconds, put batteries into the speaker unit, and then turn it on.
-- Very good sound. For a wireless system, the A-250 produces very good, albeit not very loud, sound. When the signal is strong, the sound is better than FM though not as good as wired, of course.
-- Simple controls. From the A-250 you can pause, play, skip a track forwards or backwards, and control the volume.
-- Works with my Palm Zire71. Saitek includes a 3.5mm jack, which when plugged into my Palm, played sound well through the A-250.
-- Fast support. I emailed Saitek regarding the limitations, and someone wrote back within a day to tell me that the limitations are not surmountable.
Summary: If you don't mind playing sound only out of the A-250 in a different room with few walls between it and your system, and if you don't mind imperfect sound, then the A-250 is for you. I will keep mine, since I can tolerate these limitations and I love my music on the deck and in the kitchen.

The setup was fast - take out of the box and plug one of the three cables into the MP3 player, boombox, radio, or TV. It took less than 5 minutes. The antenna comes with 3 channels for fail proof connection. The quality of the sound is excellent for an outdoor speaker. The bass can be turned on and off. Instead of plugging the speaker into the wall it can be powered by batteries. Can withstand the heat in the desert which is a big plus here in Arizona. The blue light is a head turner. Ergonomic design. Enjoy!

I bought this speaker with no reviews but the other audio unlimited 2 speaker with remote rated high with same transmitter and components except it looks like a rock which is kinda cool. I wanted one speaker not two.
1. this speaker has great bass and sound sounds like a big boombox
2. it does transmit to 150 feet
3. I plugged this in on a shelf in a closet where a stereo is located in a furnace room. The signal had to go threw the furnace threw the wall down a hall threw another wall and another 100 feet where I sat it on a table and it worked. This was done in a rental hall and then and only then did it have an occasional quick static but still was good. All through my house threw 3 floors whatever its flawless. I sat it in my basement and i could feel the bass thumping from upstairs.
4. I've done research a lot of these speakers rate low and they don't last and they aren't real strong this baby actually pumps out 100 watts look at their website for specs. I made the right choice it works as advertized.

(More customer reviews)I did read other reviews before I purchased. Like other mentioned, it will turn itself off after about 3-4 minutes after a popping noise, if there is no audio source input. You can plug your MP3 player directly to speaker as well. I don't have any problem to hook it up with 3 audio sources: one from my PC, one from my MP3 palyer, and one from my cellphone. I listen my music any where within my house (about 150 feets) without any problem. If I take it over 150 feets, there is a hissing sound. I give it 4 stars for this reason. Buy it if you love to listsen your music in bathroom, backyard, and basement... as I do.
Sound is good quality.Can't beat the price, either... Since my music library is on my pc, it just made sense to use the pc as the source.

(More customer reviews)It's not pretty. The sound is not great. But it does what I wanted it to: gets sound from my living room receiver into the kitchen.
Setup is very easy. Everything you could need to connect is included. The unit tunes automatically so there is no fussing with a tuning knob. The auto-tuning is quick and effective.
As promised, the transmitter is compatible with my AW-721 cordless headphones. I now have both transmitters connected to my receiver. (It doesn't seem to help with static but why not.)
In general the signal seems to come through with little interference. The sound is slightly distorted, something I had noticed with the headphones also. It is also overall somewhat tinny. It is hard to say whether that is from the transmission or the just all-right speaker.
One nice feature they don't advertise: if you buy the eight (!) C batteries needed to make this truly portable, you can charge them in the unit. (If you buy NiCad or NiMH batteries- try www.thomas-distributing.com)
Apparently, Acoustic Research and Advent are the same manufacturer.

PROS
- GREAT price offered on Amazon(one of the biggest pros...I think if you buy it from [...] Buy it is probably $250.
- The wireless speakers are pretty attractive and have a nice sleek, polished look
- Relatively easy to set up - if you just want to play from your PC directly
- Wireless signal is great; I put one upstairs in my room and there was no interference
CONS
- speaker quality is mediocre; namely, the bass power on these guys is weak - but it is expected. However, as long as your house isn't too large, the sound should travel well enough
- In order to play your iTunes playlists directly off the components themselves, need to spend some time setting up the system. Even when you do, the interface isn't really isn't as straightforward to use as I would have liked.
- Power outlets for each speaker unit are pretty large (minor)
Overall, decent product, but definitely not perfect; you get what you pay for!

Suffice to say....I think these could be the MOST IMPRESSIVE Wireless Speakers I have ever owned.....and I've owned them all from 900mhz ones to fancy Sony 2.4ghz ones. All came with a downside of some sort whether it be Hiss, distortion, poor sound quality, low volume....etc. These have none of those problems
While 1st testing....I was blasting music on these.......1st in a bathroom.......Zero Hiss.........I was like "How loud can I make these baby go??" Suffice to say......very loud (you can definitely crank them up).....They have clear highs, and nice Bass and you can adjust the Treble and Bass.
Also...very simple setup....literally plug and play and it supports up to 3 different inputs.
I was absolutely amazed by the range of these.....as I was easily beyond 90+ Feet......I walked all over indoors with the remote speaker in my arm (it's not that heavy even with 6C Batteries).....I experienced Zero Distortion or dropouts with no Clicking (that I've experienced in other "wireless" speakers") and this was in fully obstructed 2-3 rooms away.
Throw in that the environment contains a wide variety of 2.4Ghz Wireless Products including: 8 set 2.8Ghz phone system, 802.11g Network with a D-Link Range Extender and 2 bridged Routers, Wireless HP Printers, XBOX 360, PS3, Nintendo Wii, Wireless Bridge with VOIP Adapter.....etc.
Impressive.....Verrry impressive product. Glad I bought 2.....one for use on my deck....and one for use on patio at beach house.
I've seen wireless speakers almost 2 x the price that didn't perform nearly as well as these.
The styling is great and the only downside is that they aren't waterproof/weatherproof....then they'd be THE perfect wireless outdoor speaker. I'm still gonna give them 5 STARS because they beat all the other models I've ever tried my entire life.

Of the 150+ reviews I wish someone had taken the time to figure out the "bad" factors - it would have saved my Mothers Day. Here it is for your information - you decide.
The Good:
For the price (under $100) the reproduced sound quality of the speakers is very good. The technical details from Amazon are a bit misleading, though. The speaker has a SINGLE, 3 inch rubberized element housed inside the weatherproof enclosure, projecting the sound upward. There is a venturi sound dispersal structure which sends the sound out the sides and top. There is also a low frequency sound tunnel similar to those used in some high end sound systems (you know the ones, very expensive, four letter name beginning with B and rhyming with "nose.") At 900mhz, the distance is limited. In my ordinary stucco-and-wood two story house, it is about 25-30 feet. By taking the transmitter outside the house the range increased by 3x to 60-75 feet. While the speakers are not truly stereo (they blend the right and left channels into a single mono channel) the sound effect when you're within earshot of both speakers is quite good. With a high quality sound source like an Ipod, the full range of sound can be heard. When I thought some music sounded "tinny" I ultimately traced it back to source; the source music was the cause. The transmitter is quite forgiving about the input sound level. The printed instruction booklet that comes with the speakers gives good advice (set earpiece volume on source device at two thirds full). The speaker enclosure is well thought out, has two simple mounting eyelets on the back where the surface is flat. No mounting screws are included; you'll need to provide those yourself if you want to mount on a wall. There are low-profile four rubberized feet on the bottom in case you want to set it on a delicate surface. The brand name (Audio Unlimited) appears as a small discreet logo on the front of the speaker. The transmitter has two transmission channels selected by a switch on the transmitter itself. Tuning between the two offered channels is a snap, just press the button on each speaker and it automatically finds the signal. There is a reassuring blue LED on the front of the speaker to let you know it is active at full power. Using the remote's Power button puts the speaker in Standby and the LED turns to yellow. To fully power off the speaker you must press the power button on each speaker. The Infrared remote emits a strong enough signal to work in direct sunlight and the infrared sensor on each speaker is a 2 inch oval vrtical window on the front. It works well from just about any angle. Each speaker comes with its own AC power adapter capable of 110-240v input. when loaded with its six C-cell batteries the weight of each speaker is hefty enough to withstand wind gusts or the occasional bump, when not fix-mounted, without toppling over.
The Bad
Each speaker requires 6 (six) C-size 1.5v batteries, not included. The remote needs two AAA batteries (again, NOT included.) If you haven't bought the C-size battery lately and you're accustomed to AA and AAA prices, get ready for a shock. The price for twelve good quality alkaline batteries is between 12 and 26 dollars, depending on brand. I bought Ray-O-Vac at $12. Duracell copper top were $26. I had planned to use rechargeable niMh, but at $14 for TWO batteries (you can find twelve on the internet for about $60), I decided to wait to see if I liked the speakers. I do not know if the speakers will actually work on rechargeable - something to check out before you buy those expensive batteries. Rechargeables are only 1.2volt (versus the 1.5v of regular batteries). Batteries last for approximately 16 hours of continuous use.
NOW HERE IS THE REALLY IMPORTANT PART:
If you are surrounded by lots of wireless technology already - wireless telephones, wireless internet, wireless security, wireless garage door openers, wireless mailbox sensors, wireless garage door sensors, wireless iPod headphones, bluetooth headsets, bluetooth printers, keyboards, mouse... THESE SPEAKERS ARE NOT FOR YOU.
I'm a fairly geeky guy who loves his gadgets, and I reasoned that most of my devices operate at or above 2.5ghz and wouldn't interfere. I was WRONG! by process of elimination I figured out that you need to get up abouve 5ghz to be safe from interference with this device. Remember this is an analog device that translates signals into sounds. Our ears are remarkably sensitive to any interference. And the digital kind of interference doesn't come across the speakers the gentle hiss of background static; it comes across as sharply (loud) punctuated squeals, cracks and pops. I live on a golf course, and by taking the transmitter and speaker out onto the middle of the fairway behind my house (with a long extension cord for the transmitter) I was able to eliminate all interference. But as soon as I went back near the house, the transmitter needed to be 4-5 feet away from the speakers to eliminate most of the digital wireless interference (it never truly went away unless I was on the fairway, well removed from any human digital wireless technology).
Summary
If you live in a relatively wireless-free world, or all your other wireless devices operate above 5ghz, these are great value for the money - watch the batteries, the cost can quickly overrun what you paid for the speakers.

Audioengine AW1 Wireless Adapter Review

(More customer reviews)Before I share my thoughts, I want to emphasize that I'm not only commenting on the product itself, but also on the Amazon partner that sold it and the manufacturer of the product as well.
I placed the order with Amazon. OneCall was the Amazon partner to actually fill the order. The product arrived well in advance of the advertised date. Due to other conflicts in my schedule, it sat on my desk for about 2 weeks before I had a chance to even look at it. Regretfully, when I initially set it up, it did NOT work....I am relatively saavy with respect to computer trouble-shooting and was able to conclusively determine that the sending and receiving units were NOT able to see one another. All of the other aspects of set-up were fine...computer saw the USB sender device, patch cords allowed me to connect the USB receiver device to my 20-year old Sony stereo receiver (red/white RCA inputs).
I initially attempted to contact the manufacturer, AudioEngine, over the July 4th weekend. Duh.....stupid move, of course, on my part. Never-the-less, I also contacted OneCall after the July 4th weekend to explore their return options. For the record, they were more than eager and ready to accommodate my return for credit or a replacement unit. That being the case, I indicated I wanted to give AudioEngine a chance to reply to my contacts to them. The next day, I received an e-mail from AudioEngine support verifying my situation and affirming that I probably did have a defective sender or receiver in the package I received from OnceCall. (Oh well, as the expression goes, S%$# HAPPENS.) AudioEngine, ON THE SPOT, IN THE FIRST E-MAIL to me, indicated that they would be sending a replacement unit.....no questions asked. The replacement unit arrived via FedEx two days later....along with instructions and an RMA# for returning the defective unit directly to AudioEngine.
FOR ALL WHO READ THIS, PLEASE HEAR ME LOUD AND CLEAR, ONECALL AND AUDIO-ENGINE WERE POSITIVELY AWESOME IN THEIR RESPONSE (Just read some other product reviews here on Amazon to realize that this isn't always the case.)
I AM VERY PLEASED TO WRAP UP MY THOUGHTS ABOUT THIS PRODUCT BY STATING THAT THEAUDIOENGINE W1 PREMIUM WIRELESS AUDIO ADAPTER WORKS LIKE A CHARM.....EXACTLY AS ADVERTISED BY AMAZON, ONECALL, AND AUDIOENGINE. I might add that I live in a home that is about 80 years old and, that being the case, the walls and ceilings are all plaster and steel mesh (not chicken wire or wood) lathe.....all that steel lathe holding the plaster to my walls has given some wireless routers I've tried a run for their money. Not sure why....but absolutely NO ISSUES here with that this time.
Anyway, I must concur with and support the highest praise of the 9 other reviewers of this product. I know individual experiences and situations will always exist, but this unit worked "plug & play" and exceeded what I would have expected based upon my experiences with other "wireless audio" products.
A+++ to Amazon.....OneCall....and AudioEngine for service, support and product! Praise earned....Praise due.....Praise given!

(More customer reviews)I've seen a number of negative reviews regarding volume on the RF-WS01. Mine arrived two days ago and I was very disappointed at first. So much so that I decided to sell them on eBay, with a notation about the lack of volume. To create a nice photo I hooked up the wireless sender to an MP3 player, and practically damaged my ear-drums. Here's what I learned: The Volume On The Music Source MUST Be Turned Up To Maximum, and then adjust the volume on the speakers.
I plan on keeping the speakers. They're very nice.

There is also a low frequency sound tunnel similar to those used in some high end sound systems (you know the ones, very expensive, four letter name beginning with B and rhyming with "nose.") At 900mhz, the distance is limited. In my ordinary stucco-and-wood two story house, it is about 25-30 feet. By taking the transmitter outside the house the range increased by 3x to 60-75 feet. While the speakers are not truly stereo (they blend the right and left channels into a single mono channel) the sound effect when you're within earshot of both speakers is quite good. With a high quality sound source like an Ipod, the full range of sound can be heard. When I thought some music sounded "tinny" I ultimately traced it back to source; the source music was the cause. The transmitter is quite forgiving about the input sound level. The printed instruction booklet that comes with the speakers gives good advice (set earpiece volume on source device at two thirds full). The speaker enclosure is well thought out, has two simple mounting eyelets on the back where the surface is flat. No mounting screws are included; you'll need to provide those yourself if you want to mount on a wall. There are low-profile four rubberized feet on the bottom in case you want to set it on a delicate surface. The brand name (Audio Unlimited) appears as a small discreet logo on the front of the speaker. The transmitter has two transmission channels selected by a switch on the transmitter itself. Tuning between the two offered channels is a snap, just press the button on each speaker and it automatically finds the signal. There is a reassuring blue LED on the front of the speaker to let you know it is active at full power. Using the remote's Power button puts the speaker in Standby and the LED turns to yellow. To fully power off the speaker you must press the power button on each speaker. The Infrared remote emits a strong enough signal to work in direct sunlight and the infrared sensor on each speaker is a 2 inch oval vrtical window on the front. It works well from just about any angle. Each speaker comes with its own AC power adapter capable of 110-240v input. when loaded with its six C-cell batteries the weight of each speaker is hefty enough to withstand wind gusts or the occasional bump, when not fix-mounted, without toppling over.
The Bad
Each speaker requires 6 (six) C-size 1.5v batteries, not included. The remote needs two AAA batteries (again, NOT included.) If you haven't bought the C-size battery lately and you're accustomed to AA and AAA prices, get ready for a shock. The price for twelve good quality alkaline batteries is between 12 and 26 dollars, depending on brand. I bought Ray-O-Vac at $12. Duracell copper top were $26. I had planned to use rechargeable niMh, but at $14 for TWO batteries (you can find twelve on the internet for about $60), I decided to wait to see if I liked the speakers. I do not know if the speakers will actually work on rechargeable - something to check out before you buy those expensive batteries. Rechargeables are only 1.2volt (versus the 1.5v of regular batteries). Batteries last for approximately 16 hours of continuous use.
NOW HERE IS THE REALLY IMPORTANT PART:
If you are surrounded by lots of wireless technology already - wireless telephones, wireless internet, wireless security, wireless garage door openers, wireless mailbox sensors, wireless garage door sensors, wireless iPod headphones, bluetooth headsets, bluetooth printers, keyboards, mouse... THESE SPEAKERS ARE NOT FOR YOU.
I'm a fairly geeky guy who loves his gadgets, and I reasoned that most of my devices operate at or above 2.5ghz and wouldn't interfere. I was WRONG! by process of elimination I figured out that you need to get up abouve 5ghz to be safe from interference with this device. Remember this is an analog device that translates signals into sounds. Our ears are remarkably sensitive to any interference. And the digital kind of interference doesn't come across the speakers the gentle hiss of background static; it comes across as sharply (loud) punctuated squeals, cracks and pops. I live on a golf course, and by taking the transmitter and speaker out onto the middle of the fairway behind my house (with a long extension cord for the transmitter) I was able to eliminate all interference. But as soon as I went back near the house, the transmitter needed to be 4-5 feet away from the speakers to eliminate most of the digital wireless interference (it never truly went away unless I was on the fairway, well removed from any human digital wireless technology).
Summary
If you live in a relatively wireless-free world, or all your other wireless devices operate above 5ghz, these are great value for the money - watch the batteries, the cost can quickly overrun what you paid for the speakers.

(More customer reviews)I don't consider myself an audiophile but I know the difference between good sound and bad sound. I live in a city and I guess there is just too much RF bouncing around for these speakers to work well. I setup the speakers per the manufactures specs and tried the troubleshooting. Even with the speakers 10 ft away I still hear audible pops and hiss. Just for giggles I moved one of the speakers to the bedroom 40 ft away. Maybe the old Victorian I live in has too many layers of lead paint but I could barely hear the music playing and a constant level of hiss almost as loud as the music. The speakers may work better in an environment with less RF inference but they did not work for me. I did like the styling and the front large volume controls and the battery option for the speakers.

However when plugged in they frequently lose signal with the transmitter and you hear an awful static. Even within a few feet of the transmitter they can't seem to maintain a good signal and frequently need to be reset- very annoying. If they can't maintain the wireless signal they should at least turn off instead of blasting that harsh static sound.
This was quite embarrassing when I had guests over, they would lose connection and my guests heard awful static. This seems to be a product made by Audiovox and licensed by Acoustic Research. I've used AR speakers for years and these are far below par for the brand. They are very light, for example, lacking the weight to produce a rich bass sound. The mid range sounds hollow and the highs sound clipped. They sound like a pair of those external PC speakers that typically cost about a quarter of the price.
There are nice features such as dual color LED, L/R control,removable speaker screens, and 3 channels. I tried all of the channels but none could resolve the nasty static sound problem that would crop up after listening for a while. I'd really love these attractive speakers if they didn't drop signal and play harsh static. They also need a much higher quality sound. My product reviews are usually positive but this was a disappointment. Hopefully they'll get re-engineered inside.

(More customer reviews)My hearing is getting bad and to avoid turning the volume up substantially on my TV set, I wanted to place speakers closer to our sitting stations. Plus, the speakers on the TV leave a lot to be desired anyway.
Initially I was very pleased for ease of hook up, sound etc. However, for the speakers to work as desired, the control volume needed to be turned up to max. volume. In this range the speakers had a distinct background sound (unsure how to describe). I guess this is typical of low wattage speakers when running at max. volume.
They in fact improved the sound volume but the background sound/feedback was more than what we expected. Its not like there not tolerable, to others, this may-not be an issue.
The price is reasonable for the speakers, their size leaves a small footprint and are nice looking for the price. All the necessary accessories/hardware is include to connect (except batteries), each speaker has its own power cord included. I used a separate remote control to power off the speakers rather than to turn off each speaker on/off switch, which are small and difficult to see (on the speaker side).
I didn't want to go the surround-sound route, however I may do so. Debating at this time, if I should return the merchandise.

I've had wireless speakers before and after standing on your head for a half hour to "tune them in" after about twenty minutes they need to be retuned. I've had these speakers running all day long and have never had to touch them again. I have them mounted in my gazebo with two simple screws each and they can be heard almost anywhere in my yard. Use them with batteries or plug them into a wall outlet, either works just fine.
