(More customer reviews)I know just enough about Audio to be dangerous but I'm not a true audiophile (or whatever they're called). So I don't know how an average person would figure this out when it took me an hour and a half on the phone with Sony support before THEY figured it out.
Now this is my second Sony receiver and I purchased this one specifically to go along with my brand new Sony BDP-S360 Blu Ray player. I used brand new HDMI category 2 cables into the receiver and then out to my Sony HDTV. This is suppossed to be the BEST way to get true no-loss sound decoding and picture. Well I was shocked when my receiver was NOT decoding DTS audio. All Dolby Digital tracks were playing in perfect 5.1 surround sound...the DTS tracks played back in Linear PCM stereo. So after I read the manuals, updated the firmware and set everything right then trying a few DVDs and Blu Ray discs I contacted Sony Support via email. Several exchanges later they asked me to call in to better troubleshoot my issue. First I talked to the blu ray guy (since I wasn't sure which device was causing the issue) and after resetting the player and checking all the setting I was transfered to the Audio department. Once again we reset the machine to factory setting, checked all the set ups and still nothing changed (Did I mention that I had to unhook and reconnect several cables and I even had an optical cable running to my old Sony Reciever?). Then 1 1/2 hours into the phone call he asked if I was getting audio through the TV speakers which I was and he said "oh its set to TV + Amp". So we changed that setting to just "Amp" and bingo...DTS surround sound!! I said "but that's the factory default setting". He told me where the info was in the manual but I checked an NOWHERE in the manual does it say that when using the receiver as a passthrough via HDMI inorder to decode a DTS signal the receiver must be set to "Amp" only and not the default setting of "TV + Amp". What the...??
So now the receiver works great even decoding the new DTS-HD Master Audio off my "Watchmen" Blu Ray disc. But be warned that if you use the HDMI inputs to decode your surround sound be sure to change the system to "Amp" instead of the default "TV + Amp" unless you enjoy stereo sound from your suround sound system. This may be the case for other Sony receivers so be aware when buying that factory default setting may not allow for optimum performance and the Sony guys might not be aware of this little fact if you call them.

Sennheiser Wireless EW 100ENG G2 Microphone System Review

(More customer reviews)I'm a television producer/director using two Panasonic HVX200's at 24P and this Sennheiser wireless microhone. Thus far, we've shot 5 indoor/outdoor shows for two series with the microphone and I must say it's quite impressive. I'm not an audio expert but I know when something's working well. What's amazing to me is that these units use only two 1.5 volt AA batteries each AND the batteries generally last an entire 12 hour day! I have a 9V battery based Samson wireless microphone system that's downright voltage thirsty by comparison. (I have to replace the Samson batteries every couple of hours.) The sound quality of the Sennheiser is consistently excellent at various ranges with only an occasional audio hit or dropout. The main tme we've experienced the hits are when our subject is further away; say 75 feet or so. On those occasions, we've remedied the problem by either switching frequencies or by positioning the transmitter or receiver on a more direct line-of-sight orientation.
The construction of the mic and receiver are solid, top drawer all the way. I have NOT read the thick instruction manual, nor do I intend to. My cameraman knows enough to be able to change frequencies when need be, so that's fine by me.
So, in summary, this is an excellent microphone system. It works equally well indoors or out. The quality of the sound we've recorded with it is exceptional. Don't hesitate to make this your primary wireless microphone purchase.

Yamaha YID-W10 Wireless iPod Dock (Black) Review

(More customer reviews)I bought this product cause I love to have my iphone in my hand while sitting on the couch or at the dining table and being able to switch songs frequently without having to get up. It's also nice to be able to control your receiver volume by using the side buttons on your iPhone.
However, you should be aware of a couple drawbacks of this product:
- This dock does not allow you to display song title and album artwork on your TV screen. If you want this feature, you'll need to go with the non-wireless dock YDS-11SL. Also you cannot send iTunes videos to the TV like you can with the YDS-11SL.
However, this product has a video synchronization feature that works well - basically this allows you to play itunes video content or youtube videos on your iPhone screen (while holding your iphone in your hand) while the audio wirelessly comes through your receiver speakers. The device does a perfect job of syncing up the audio with the video (but remember the video will only be on your tiny iphone screen rather than up on the TV).
- I bought this product because I wanted a wireless solution for my iPhone music and yAired technology was supposed to be hands-down better sound quality than a bluetooth connection. I still think it's better than bluetooth, but I was a little disappointed because the audio occasionally breaks in and out with yAired. The audio breaks are rare - It usually happens when you first start playing music (maybe connection takes a while to solidify) or if you're moving around the house with the iphone in your hand. Note that it does play perfectly everytime when you have the iphone sitting in the dock.
Overall I still like the wireless feature, but was a little disappointed with yAired connection quality.

(More customer reviews)I've been using a set of these for over a year, and they are a godsend but not perfect. The good news; I use it to connect my Tivo (Tivo needs to dial in every night to update its program data) and it was the perfect solution for a tough spot, since there's no phone jack anywhere near my television. I have also used it to surf the web with a dial-up connection, with no real problems. Its fine, even through an extension cord! The bad news; I've tried to use for a phone, and that rally didn't cut it. It worked, but its a bad connection. I couldn't tolerate it. So I dispute the earlier comment that it can't be used for data. For me, its only use is for data, not voice! For certain situations, its ideal.

RCA RC926 Wireless Phone Jack Review

(More customer reviews)I use the RC926 to add an extra phone jack for my DirecTivos and standalone DirecTV receiver. All three receivers are split off from the extension jack and I have never had a problem with the units making the required service data call.
Edit: I also have DSL but use 2Wire filters (not the generic filters provided by Verizon) for greater clarity. A filter has to be placed between the jack and the wireless BASE unit for the wireless extension unit to function properly with DSL.
Note: Tivos and DirecTivos DO HAVE MODEMS so Rios' title header is somewhat misleading. But the facts in the body of the review are correct. Per Page 10 of RCA's manual (which is available on their website): "Note: The maximum baud rate for the Wireless Phone Jack is 14,400. Best results, however, will be experienced at 9,600." This limitation is why I knocked off a star.
So yes, I would not recommend that you attempt to surf the Internet using this jack or use it for any purpose where a high baud rate is important. But the phone jack is perfectly fine for voice, fax, and satellite receiver use.

Sony EZWT100 S-AIR Signal Transmitter - Black Review

(More customer reviews)Installed this into my STR-DN1000 and tried to link it with a brand new AIR-SA10 and they would just not recognize each other. The wireless strength was zero and the main unit would not pair with the sub. After 30 mins on live chat with Sony they suggested that I unplug the receiver for a minute and try again. Amazingly that worked and the SA10 immediately linked with the receiver without pairing. The install instructions do say to unplug the receiver before installing this transmitter. That is a major deal for me with the way my components are installed into my built-ins, however, it turned out to be the critical missing piece of the puzzle. The instructions don't say 'if you don't do this you will have hours of frustration' so I am writing that here to try to save others from injuring their heads on their walls.

Now that it's working, the total investment for the transmitter and the SA10 seems like a good deal when compared to other wireless speakers available at this time, plus the SA10 allows you to switch between whatever feeds are available on your main unit without walking back to the main unit to change it.
