(More customer reviews)iLuv is relatively small and thin. Easy to carry around, will fit almost anywhere. Uses standard 3.5mm stereo audio connector. It is in no way iPod specific. I guess it has "i" in the name because every cool device these days has "i" in the name. You can use iLuv with anything. Laptops, MP3 players, Walkmans, CD players, anything standard. And with iPod too. Of course, if your device has non-standard connector (most mobile phones for example) you are out of luck.
It uses AAA batteries, which is not really a good thing. However, given that device is too thin for AA batteries, I'm not going to hold it against it. BTW, may I suggest rechargeables to everybody who bitches about price of AAA batteries. There is a 3V connector on it, so you don't need batteries if you have 12V to 3V adapter for car. I just got iLuv today, so can't really comment on battery life. It's been turned on for the whole afternoon with used batteries (that I pulled out of my old FM transmitter), and it still works.
It covers the full FM frequency range in 0.1 MHz increments. You can set it to virtually any unused FM slot. As far as I can tell, it stays at the dialed frequency and doesn't "pollute" reception of nearby stations (translated, your neighbors will not hate you). However, the range is very limited. You probably want to keep it no more than 10 feet or so from the antenna of your radio. If you are looking into buying it for use in car, this is not a problem. Tested. I placed it at the worst position in car, furthers away from antenna, and the sound quality was still good. If you want to transmit to the room on the other end of a house, you'll be very disappointed. It simply doesn't have enough juice for that.
There's some audible white noise when there's no input signal, but not any worse than some other devices I had in my hands. Don't expect miracles from something in this price range. If you'll be using it in a car (use most folks are buying this devices for), don't worry about it at all. Even if you have very quiet car, you won't notice this at all. On the other hand, if you are audio perfectionist, you'll probably have to spend much more money for something better.
Conclusion. iLuv is no worse then what I read in reviews for most other FM transmitters. It is way better then my old Radio Shack branded one.

I made a mistake thinking it was without one.
The radio causes too much interference and cuts off any TV you're listening to.
They are great for the computer though and one plus is that no battery is needed if you connect with the included cords instead wireless.
I use them on my laptop.

(More customer reviews)I have owned this unit for just over a year, at first it was ok but the remote had to be about 6 inches from the eye to work and every time you turn on the ignition you would have to manually turn this on too, it does not come on automaticaly with the ignition. Now after about a year of use the unit will work great for about 20 minutes and the just say input 1 on the screen as if it is not getting a signal. I tried every input same thing after 20 minutes it just comes up and says input 1 (or whatever input you are on). I know my video source is working because if I bypass the tuner and go direcly to my moniter it works fine. All in all save your money this tuner only does anolog not digital. By a DTV converter box with anolog pass through (if you must have anolog) and buy a a\v switcher. I bought the jenson KSW41 for way less and works so much better.The jenson also has three video outputs so you do not have to use a signal robbing splitter.

The good news; I use it to connect my Tivo (Tivo needs to dial in every night to update its program data) and it was the perfect solution for a tough spot, since there's no phone jack anywhere near my television. I have also used it to surf the web with a dial-up connection, with no real problems. Its fine, even through an extension cord! The bad news; I've tried to use for a phone, and that rally didn't cut it. It worked, but its a bad connection. I couldn't tolerate it. So I dispute the earlier comment that it can't be used for data. For me, its only use is for data, not voice! For certain situations, its ideal.

Would have given it 5 stars but it has to be re-paired too often. So you cue up an audio book and turn it on only to find you need to go through the more lengthy repairing process.

(More customer reviews)Hello All, Probably like some of you, I waffled for quite some time over whether to buy the RCA Lyra Wireless or not. Finally I plopped the dollars down and now I'm here to tell you that RCA Lyra does exactly what they say. And now, the particulars.
The setup was simple and straightforward, most of my time was spent moving my huge entertainment center from the wall so I could get to the back of my Sony receiver. I plugged the receiver into the MD/DAT slot, plugged it to a power source and every light on the signal indicator glowed green with joy. If only 802.?? were this simple. Ran the software to install the remote and musicmatch (not necessary, but I like it), checked all the audio settings per the manual and WIN XP had everything ready to go.

Went to the radio in Musicmatch and wow, the sound is outstanding, no hiss, just pure clean music. The manual stated that the Lyra could receive interference from cordless phones and recommended using position number four on both transmitter and receiver. I tried the others, turned on my cordless phone and no interference.
I subscribe to Rhapsody and Realone also. So naturally I tried each and they worked, matter of fact any and every sound that my computer makes come through the stereo. I do recommend you download the latest RCA Lyra software, it allows you to switch between players, currently Rhapsody and Musicmatch. But, like I said all the other players work as well, Media Player, MSN Radio Plus, Spinner, MoonTaxi, LaunchCast and more.
The remote control is awesome too, it does just as RCA states, I was surprised to learn that it closes whichever player you're listening to and it works through walls with no hesitation. If you're a Rhapsody user, you know that you can skip to the next song, the remote does that and more. It operates all other electronics as well, I haven't set it up for that yet, probably want, I have a nice Sony all you can control remote.
Well, I'm sure I may have missed something, but I've hit what's important to us all and that's the sound and the ease of setting it up.....PERFECTO. I'm very satisfied, actually it has exceeded my expectations. Lastly, it works, now go order yours!

(More customer reviews)I built one of these from a kit. They are easy to solder and build. Much better than the CC Crane transmitter, which is the second best choice. It is completely in a different class than the FM transmitters you buy at mass merchandise chains.
There are FCC regulations limiting power of FM transmitters. What I was surprised at given the regulations was the variation in quality.
This is the BEST FM transmitter I could find. I also own the CC Crane FM transmitter which is OK, but significantly below this one in quality. I would not buy a FM transmitter other than one of these two.
FM transmitters are handy for rebroadcasting streaming audio from a computer, TV, or you music collection throughout the house. They work much better in areas with few FM stations. You do need a clear channel to broadcast the FM signal.

(More customer reviews)I purchased this unit yesterday (8-21-08) at Fry's hoping it would be simple to use. Similar to the new Roku set top box for Netflix. Unfortunately the VisonTek Pc2Tv seems to follow the trend of similar devices sold. Unless you have three days to kill messing with it; or money for a hardware/router changes don't bother.
-Pro:
- All cables are included and are of decent quality.
- The set top unit was detectable on my FiOS router, passing the ping test.
- Size: the set top unit is small enough to be put on most entertainment systems with a footprint the size of an average hardback book.
Cons:
-After 3 reinstalls the software still refused to find the set top unit.
- The error message read to check the subnets to make sure they matched. After double checking and resetting the router; the software would not detect the set top box. Despite being detected by the router itself, with matching IP's and subnet numbers.
- The only way to get the set unit to detect was with a wired connection. defeating the purpose entirely.
Conclusion:
Wait a few more months until the software and support catches up. In 6 months to a year they may have all the bugs worked out.

The only option is to buy new ones when the batteries quit on you, what kind of a music device is that, RIDICULOUS and disingenuous, I emailed the company before I bought them and was told don't worry they'll last years, well they didn't. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me, I learn the first time and I will not replace them.

It is "bi-directional". It has both RCA in and out jacks on the back.
The device will pair with BT A2DP stereo profile compatible headphones for listening.

It can also be paired with a laptop or BT enabled MP3 player/cell phone to RECEIVE stereo audio streams to your home or car stereo system.
I have tried both configurations and it works very well.
This unit can be powered by a USB jack whether that be an PC, Cigarette lighter adapter or in-dash head unit.

C. Crane FMT Digital FM Transmitter with AC Adapter Review

by removing 3 screws (one screw is in battery compartment and the other 2 are under those circular rubber feet which are adhesive and once removed can be refitted afterwards)
2) Locate the variable resistor marked VR2 on the circuit board. (For those non-technical this is like a volume control that is operated by inserting a tiny screwdriver and turning fully clockwise). Turn VR2 to the fully clockwise position.
Viola! The power output will increase by about five fold.
If you want to go even further, then
a) sit it on a grounded metallic surface, such as a metal tray to form a ground plane.
b) increase the length of the antennae to about 75 cm (29 inches) which is the correct quarter wavelength at these frequencies.
But frankly, you are unlikely to need this once you turn up the boost.
