Philips SHP2500/37 Full Size Headphone with Volume Control Review

(More customer reviews)I owned/used/abused the previous model for more than 6 years and man did it take a beating. It worked flawlessly until the little volume controller broke open and one of the wires broke off. I decided not to bother trying to fix it so i found this set and purchased it. Aside from looking cool and good price, they looked even sturdier than the last model headphones (including the volume controller). They fit comfortably, cover your ears completely and are not too tight. Good, full, clean sound (better if you can tweak it), and very loud. I Use them primarily for games, as you can hear the smallest of sounds. Good for watching TV privately if you really need to (although the cord gets in the way). Owned them for 1-1/2 years so far and not a scratch. For the price its a must have.

(More customer reviews)I bought a pair of these headphones thinking that for the price, it didn't matter how good the sound quality is. Unfortunately, the sound quality is not the problem with these headphones.
The first clue that this is a very cheap set of wireless headphones is that the transmitter runs on batteries. It can be run off AC, but there is no AC adapter in the box; it's an optional add-on.
While I can live with a battery-powered transmitter and no charging cradle, the bigger problem I experienced was that the receiver cannot get a consistent lock on the transmitter. The reset button is useless in this case; the when reset, the receiver locks onto a nearby radio station and begins its FM scan (from what I can read in the documentation, this isn't what is supposed to happen).
Also note that for chat, the microphone is built into the base of the transmitter. The nice thing about this is that it definitely won't feed back. I never tried the microphone, but I expect it works as well as a cheap microphone can be expected to work.
All in all the product does work okay as a pair of wired headphones, but that defeats the purpose of buying wireless. The wireless feature is much to inconsistent, resulting in a very frustrating user experience.
I would not recommend this product nor would I purchase again.

(More customer reviews)I didn't expect much when I ordered these. I needed wireless headphones so I didn't wake up my girlfriend while I watched TV late at night. These had a rebate when I ordered them and were the lowest price so I bought them.
Turns out they are great quality for the price. Great range as I can walk into the kitchen several rooms away from my bedroom with the headphones on and still listen to my show. Great fabric on the ear pieces so they don't buildup heat or collect moisture. They recharge when you set them in the holder and even come with nimh batteries.
The headphones are a bit bulkier that what I was originally looking for, but they're light and don't get in the way. They have a clear sound. I'm really happy with my purchase. Thanks Amazon!

(More customer reviews)This product is great while it works. The problem is that it did not work very long for me - less than 5 months. The little red LED's now fail to illuminate with the transmitter plugged in. Then, when I read the fine print, it says: 90-Day Warranty. I can't recall ever seeing any other consumer electronics product with less than a 1-year warranty. I then find that a local (hearing aid) dealer handles them. But, he says they don't handle the 2.3 Mhz version because there have been lots of problems with them. The 95 Mhz unit is problem free - and it carries a 1-Year warranty.
