(More customer reviews)I have 3 transmitters and one receiver. Here's how I set it up: plug in receiver and point it at the AVR. Test to make sure it pointed correctly and it was on the first try. Then I placed the transmitters in their respective zones. Point the remote at a transmitter and it works. It couldn't have been easier.

(More customer reviews)I bought this headset to replace a radio shack wireless headset where the batteries were failing. I like the Sennheiser for its quality, the fact that it sounds great and for the fact that it uses AAA rechargeables (comes with it) that will hold a charge for more than 24 hrs of use, and they are easily replaceable when that time comes. The sound quality is excellent... good bass and the highs are clear. I use these primarily in bed so as not to disturb the wife while watching TV... I am one of those who needs the noise in order to sleep, so the headphones are on all night albeit at low volume. I have found that they are cool and comfortable to wear. I wake up without the red ears I used to get with the others. If there is a complaint it would be that they fit on the ear and as such feels loose on the head, so when I do use them while moving about they slip. The old set was around the ear, so was more secure, but after a couple of hours were intolerable to wear... tradeoffs. Oh, one other thing I discovered that I really like is that the ear cushions are easily removable and can be cleaned with a mild detergent, dried and snapped right back on. So, bottom line, I am very satisfied with these and recommend them to other night owls or those who need to wear them for long periods.

I set it up as per the directions and at first I thought it was working, it transmitted the cable signal from one room to about twenty feet into the kitchen. But, the ability to change the channel via the "IR mouse" and remote just didn't work. Period. So, I switched the cable set up to feed the "raw" cable signal into the splitter so the transmitter got 25 channels. I was able to change channels and this would have been acceptable had it continued to function this way. But, now once the unit had been running a few minutes, the remote no could no longer function. At first I thought maybe it was a dead battery and so I replaced it but, once again, the remote stopped working. At this point, turned it off and re-read the instructions and went over the wiring setup. This was about 15 minutes after which I turned the units back on and it appeared to be functioning. I watched a little of the golf match and when a commercial came on, I tried to change the channel and nothing. Not one button the remote functioned. So, at this point I've decided to send the units back and try my luck with the manufacture.

(More customer reviews)I just received the Air SynchHD yesterday so my experience is somewhat limited, but so far it is working great. I bought this to use to watch TV out by the pool on game day and to eliminate the long HDMI cable that I had been dragging back and forth each weekend and hanging out a window. So far I have tested it outside and the picture is as clear as it was when the HDTV was connected by HDMI directly to the cable box. My setup outside is definitely pushing the limits of the 33 foot NLOS so it took some time to find a placement of the receiver that would allow it to connect to the transmitter. But once connected, I let it run for about four hours and never lost the signal. While I bought this for game day outside I found that I can also use it during the weekdays when we are not outside to eliminate a second cable box in our exercise room. That setup puts the receiver about 20 feet from the transmitter and works perfectly as well. We are going to end up saving over $17 a month on our cable bill by eliminating two cable boxes (the one we had designated for outside and the one in the exercise room).
One possible option to consider: The Air SynchHD only has one HDMI-in port but I have hooked it up with a IO Gear HDMI smart switch and can use it with our cable box, PS3 and Blu-Ray player. The smart switch just sends the signal for whichever one is on to the transmitter. So, we can do movies, watch cable or play games outside (or in our exercise room). I definitely recommend this setup for anyone who wants to be able to use more than one HD device with the transmitter. It is much easier than disconnecting and reconnecting cables every time you want to switch from cable box to blu-ray, etc.. Oh, and the HDMI output feature is great as well to allow you to use this device with a cable box that is also connected to another HDTV. I run the output HDMI cable to our Onkyo receiver. The receiver has a multi-room feature that feeds our outdoor speakers so we can watch HDTV in full stereo sound outside.
If I experience any problems after further use I will update this review. But, I have to admit that so far this product has worked great.

I have not used them for pure audio. I have high end audio equipment and prefer the imaging that speakers provide. Headsets don't produce the sound stage well.

TV Ears 10041 Original System (Black) Review

(More customer reviews)Television shows (especially older ones), too often aren't captioned. This is also true with current DVD releases, even from the big studios: no captions or subtitles. There's a law that requires closed captioning on newly released media, but studios sometimes ignore it. As I'm hearing impaired and rely heavily on closed captioning, this is particularly frustrating.
I have tried several headsets over the years with varying degrees of success. What's unfortunate is that most headsets aren't designed for the hearing impaired. They're designed for people who want to listen to music as they roam around the house. This means that the headsets aren't optimized for voice enhancement, and instead deliver quite a bit of bass. Bass tones don't improve speech comprehension, they lessen it.
That's where TV Ears comes in. Yes, the name is a bit silly, but this headset really works. The first time I used them I had the silliest smile on my face, because for the very first time I understood what was being said *perfectly*. English accents - long a bane of my TV experience, especially as I love British humor - were no longer a problem. The sound quality is magnificent, and the speech enhancement that the product brags about is spot-on. You can adjust the tone of the sound being delivered to your ears, so you can get just the right amount of bass/treble to give you, essentially, a custom-fit headset.
There's an added bonus.
TV Ears says that most theaters use the same technology that they do. I wasn't sure I believed that, so continued to use the (most often) old and sometimes dysfunctional headsets that theaters provide that don't allow for adjusting the tone to improve speech comprehension. Fed up with watching theater employees throw headsets into bins, and at least a 50/50 shot that when the movie started I was going to have to go back and exchange the headset, I tried my TV Ears in the theater. They worked. Instead of simply "booming" the sound, it was just like at home: The headsets enhanced what was being said. Whenever I go to the movies, I "never leave home without" them. They're more reliable than American Express.

With the Motorola Dc800 Bluetooth Stereo Gateway I am also able to hear my stereo, my TV, etc. in stereo through my hearing aids. I do not have to turn the volume up a drive the rest the family out of the room. Late at night if I want I can watch listen to music without anyone else hearing it. And I have stereo pumped through my hearing aids as I walk around the house. This is freedom for hearing aid patients like me.

(More customer reviews)This is a great gadget. I am running windows vista on my desktop and have a sony receiver and this thing works great. Last year I was in my attic running speaker wire from my receiver (indoors) to my outdoor speakers. I was dreading getting back in the attic to run an RCA cable from my computer to my receiver. So my search started. I found this item and boy did it save me a lot of time. I received it yesterday and it took me about 10 min to get this thing up and running. I set mine up by the quick start directions that sony provides. You do not have to load the software sony gives you. I use iTunes with it and it workds great. I can sit on my patio and control my iTunes via my iPhone and relax. O yeah you can also control your volume via your iPhone. I will say that all these products are in close proximity so its hard for me to speak for someone that is trying to run this through out a 2 story house. But for what I need it to do it works flawlessly! The sound quality is very good too in my oppinion.

Scratches on plastic pieces, and they should have cleaned the sneeze splatter off of the display prior to applying the "this should make you think it's new" protective plastic coating. Incredible. Don't get taken for over $100 like I did. Buy anything else anywhere else some other way, and you'll be better off than buying this unit from this seller on amazon.

(More customer reviews)The dimensions listed on Amazon for this DVD player were not even close to what the product actually was. According to what Amazon had listed (product dimensions 5 x 15.2 x 18.8 and dimensions 16 x 12.5x 2.5) it should have been about 15", which I thought I was paying for and chose this one based on these dimensions. The actual one I received was much smaller and only probably a 13" (outside dimensions are about 12 x 13.5). I could have gotten a better deal elsewhere if I had wanted a 13". I called and explained this and finally received a replacement - which turned out to be exactly the same size. I ended up keeping it because of the long delay and hassle but I am totally displeased with Amazon for what I feel was completely inaccurate advertising of this product.

First it is not 16:9, it is 4:3. In a drop down of 15" that means you will be losing more of your rear view mirror sight lines for the same amount of picture as a 12" 16:9. 99% of films are 16:9.
Second this thing is VERY flimsy and bounces like all heck.
Third, get a monitor with a higher resolution. at 15" 800x 400 (what you will really see with 16:9 on this 4:3 @ 800x600) looks terrible.
Another reviewer mentioned that you cant expect higher resolutions. Wrong. You are goign to spend a lot of time (at least three hours) researching how to drop your headliner (look on your car user forums on the net) where to tap power etc and mounting. Most thinking people are going to install a media streamer like a seagate theater ($50 or less), asus, WD etc and a cheap hard drive and have hundreds of movies, after going to all the trouble of mounting an overhead. After all that why on earth would you not spend $50 more and get a higher definition monitor given streamers can give you a much better pic? And if you are not going to get a streamer now and are going to use an older dvd unit, you will not be able to upgrade.
Forth the product specs are wrong on many counts almost all telling you you are getting more than you are getting. EG specs as of this date say there is antishock for DVD. there is no dvd.

(More customer reviews)I was searching for wireless speakers for an outdoor event, and I'm certain these will do nicely. While it's true that the transmitter needs to be plugged into the music source (via a standard headphone jack that will fit all devices I would need it to) and into a wall outlet, I expected that. For a test run I plugged into my laptop sitting in the middle of the first floor then slotted 6 AA batteries into the speaker and turned it on. It automatically picked up the signal. I took a walk around the house and got about 100' away and still got good signal. I also like the feature to select L,R,or Mono on the speaker itself. Bass boost helps the sound a lot. Also, I was able to run 4 speakers from 1 transmitter. Don't know yet about interference or battery life for the speaker. I love the aesthetics of it.

Terk Leapfrog Remote Control Extender Kit LFIRX Review

(More customer reviews)I purchased the Terk Leapfrog to control my Tivo from the bedroom, after running cables for the audio/video through the wall. In the end, this has worked excellently for me - so let me explain why it doesn't get the full 5 stars.
Initial setup with this product couldn't be easier. You simply unpack the two pieces, plug in the two included AC adapters - and that's it! I was surprised there was no programming it to accept certain IR codes... it just picks up whatever the remote might be throwing out, and relays it appropriately. When I first unpacked it, I set the one unit right in front of my Tivo, sitting about 2 inches from the Tivo's IR receiver. I took the other one into our bedroom and plugged it in. Presto - I could control the Tivo from the bedroom.
Now that I'd confirmed it worked, I went back to my living room to try and find a nice, out of the way place for the Terk Leapfrog to sit. It obviously had to have a clear line of sight to the Tivo... which I figued left me with plenty of choices. I tried putting it on a bookshelf, that was on quite an angle from the Tivo - but with no luck. I tried hiding it behind a picture frame (where is still had a clear line of sight to the Tivo) on a table that was closer to the Tivo... but again no luck. I went on to try 4-5 other places around the room, but could never make it work consistently.
Finally, I placed it *behind* the tivo, and used the included IR 'extender' (which is a little cable, with a peanut sized IR transmitter on the end). I snaked this little cord under the tivo, and then attached the little IR transmitter so it's aiming right at the Tivo's IR reciever. This, finally, worked. Just for comparison, I can aim my Tivo remote almost anywhere in the room and have the signal picked up by the Tivo, so I'm confident that the Tivo is not the problem here.
So... The good thing about this product is that it does work... the bad thing is that it seems it needs to be aimed by a professional sharpshooter to get the signal to your device.

The only option is to buy new ones when the batteries quit on you, what kind of a music device is that, RIDICULOUS and disingenuous, I emailed the company before I bought them and was told don't worry they'll last years, well they didn't. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me, I learn the first time and I will not replace them.

I like that they only turn on when you have them on. The sound quality is very good. I also like that once they are fully charged the charging light turns off. At one end of my house i get a little interference that i didn't get with my other headphones. But that is not a major problem. One thing is they could be a little tighter and i don't see any way to adjust that. I would definitely recommend them.

(More customer reviews)Buying an antenna for your digital TV receiver? It can be difficult, eh? If you live in the city near the transmitters, it's fairly easy -- any small, truly omni-directional antenna will do fine (perhaps the Antennas Direct DB2). If, like me, you live 50+ miles from the TV transmitters and they're in different directions, it becomes a challenge. Here's some tips:
- No antenna is totally "omni-directional" (receives from all directions) no matter what the ad says. Every antenna receives better in one direction than another, and the high-gain antennas are the most picky. Your TV's rabbit ears antenna might do better than a fancy high-gain antenna if it's pointed in the wrong direction. If you buy a "uni-directional" or high-gain antenna, be prepared to spend a lot of time tweaking the direction.
- Don't believe the high-gain ratings, they're mostly marketing hype. There are independent web sites by antenna nerds that rate antennas fairly, so do some research. What you'll find is that every antenna receives some channels better than others -- for instance, it may have great reception ("gain") for channels 30-60 but be terrible for channels 1-20. Ideally, buy an antenna that has has good gain for the channel(s) you're most interested in... if you know what those are.
- Antennas are highly sensitive to position, direction, and things nearby that might interfere with the signals (trees, houses, traffic, the family dog, etc). So what works for me or your neighbor might not work for you. Even a slightly different location may have a huge effect on your reception.
I have a Channelmaster 4221 and an AntennasDirect DB8, one pointed at distant Seattle and the other pointed at Canada, and both connected to an RCA A/B antenna switch. Both antennas are excellent; the DB8 is slightly more sensitive but extremely hard to point. I would rate it 5-stars except it didn't come assembled and the assembly instructions are a bit puzzling. Construction and materials are good. The Channelmaster 4221 is somewhat easier to point but still highly directional; it came mostly assembled. Gain is good in my location. I'm only rating it four stars because the construction is less solid. If you're looking at these same two antennas but unsure of what to buy, I'd start with the 4221: it's much cheaper and more forgiving about the pointing direction. If you find yourself needing better reception, perhaps buy a preamp to go with it; if that still doesn't work, maybe move up to the DB8 or a higher mounting location.
