JBL Reference 610 Wireless Headphone (Black) Review

JBL Reference 610 Wireless Headphone (Black)
Average Reviews:

I have been using these headphones recently with my iPod touch running the new 3.0 software update, and I would have to say that I am mostly happy with the results. The two pair up really easy, I just leave the bluetooth on on the iPod and all I have to do is press power on the headphones and then play once to connect, and play once more to hear music. The range is fantastic, I plug my iPod into the computer at work when the battery is low and I can walk all over the mailroom floor with no interruptions. One thing I do enjoy is the nice deep bass these provide. I am sort of a bass junky though and others may find it a bit too much.
My complaints would have to be that 1.) I am not to fond of the shape and size of them. The headband sits behind the cups and it feels like they are always going to fall off your head, and they are pretty big. 2.) Not all the functions work with the iPod Touch. I can use play and pause, as well as volume adjustment. However I can not skip songs. I believe this is an issue with the iPod software/hardware rather than the the headphones though because when I used them on an iPod nano and classic with the dongle they worked great, and you could even navigate the menus and everything. 3.) Occasionally they will cut out and it sounds a bit like a CD skipping but nothing so sever that I am upset by it. 4.) They are hot. The leather(?) around the ear cups fits really well and keeps the sound of my rather noisy job out, but they keep the heat in just as well, and often I have to take them off because they simply get too warm. Lastly I kind of wish they had a mic built in so I could pair them with my phone, but this is not really a complaint more than it is just a wish.
I hope this review was helpful and I do recommend these headphones to anyone looking for a great set of bluetooth headphones. Thank You.

Sony DRBT22 Wireless Stereo Headset Review

Sony DRBT22 Wireless Stereo Headset

Works with iPhone 3G/GS with caveats (see update below).
Just bought these along with the TMR-BT8 iPod adapter. Pairing is very easy. While the headphones are off, hold down the power button for 7 seconds or when the pink and blue lights are blinking. The pairing code is 0000.
In addition to my 5th gen iPod, I also paired it with my Razr V3xx and Thinking T61p. No problems at all and the sound is as clear as with my wired headphones. These headphones do not have very much bass but it's much better than average in-the-ear types. The treble range is pretty good and better than average as well. Wireless range is very good, as long as there aren't too many obstacles. I was able to go at least 40 feet away with no cutting out at all. Simply amazing. Other features include controlling devices with the jog dial and volume buttons, which I was able to do with all 3 of my devices. I have not tried making or receiving a call from them yet but I don't perceive that I will have any problems. But with all the good, there's always a little bad. The control buttons do not feel firm and makes the whole thing seem fragile. In general I am careful with my electronics so this will not be a problem. I could see using these at the gym but I wouldn't drop them or place undue stress on them. This one is minor but the charger looks like it was designed to be compact but the prongs do not fold in and away. I could see traveling with these headphones on a business trip and being able to drop it in my laptop case would've been nice. And lastly, at this price, they should've included a case, preferably a hard plastic one.
Pros:
1. Easy pairing between devices
2. Very good wireless range
3. Intuitive controls
4. Battery life seems to be very good so far
5. Clear sound with no cutting out
6. Better than average sound quality
Cons:
1. Seems a little fragile
2. Prongs do not fold in on compact AC charger
3. No case included
UPDATE (8/11/08):
Now that I've had these headphones for 8 months, I found out that I can pair my phone and iPod simultaneously. I can be listening to the iPod and when a call comes in, the iPod pauses, and I can take the call. Once the call is over, the iPod resumes playing.
UPDATE (11/5/08):
These headphones work with my iPhone 3G but with caveats. First, you must use the Sony TMR-BT8 iPod adapter. You CANNOT just pair through the iPhone's built-in bluetooth AND you must not have it set to "on" before using the Sony adapter. It's probably best not to have bluetooth turned on at all. Second, you must have the adapter in and be in iPod mode before turning on headphones or they won't pair up. Third, you can get phone calls but they will not go through the headphones. And as with all previous iPhone accessories, you will be told that the adapter is an older accessory and may not work, do you want airplane mode. Just select "no" and don't worry about it. I think I covered all of the caveats. What is nice is that you can use the A2DP functions of the headphones like play/stop/FF/RW and volume, you will hear the phone ring in the headphones, and the music will resume once your call is over.
UPDATE (9/28/09):
iPhone ONLY. Now with the 3.0 firmware upgrade, there is no need for the Sony TMR-BT8 iPod adapter anymore. However, while you can play/stop music, you do not have prev/next or reverse/fast-forward functions. I recently upgraded to the iPhone 3GS and still no go on those functions. Hopefully this gets fixed in a future firmware upgrade.

Sony SRS-BTM30 Bluetooth Wireless Speaker Review

Sony SRS-BTM30 Bluetooth Wireless Speaker
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased these speakers after much reading on Amazon and other places. The average rating here on Amazon for these was among the highest.
I received them and was very excited to start listening to "better sounding" music than what I was getting out of my 5-year old, $25 "no name" (non Bluetooth) speakers.
I can live with the size, though they are bulkier than I would prefer. First time pairing my Blackberry Tour worked as described in the manual.
Unfortunately subsequent pairing is a manual process. Every other Bluetooth device I have is immediately detected by my Blackberry for pairing when I turn the Bluetooth device on. Not so with the Sony speakers. I have to turn the speakers on, then manually go into my Bluetooth settings on the Blackberry and select the Sony speakers to manually connect. Since a large part of why I bought these speakers was convenience, this is definitely an issue for me. I was anticipating turning the Sony speakers on and having automatic pairing with my Blackberry.
And then the music started playing. The proprietary Bass Boost these speakers have is horrible. It's way too much and what's worse is there is no way to turn it off on the speakers. The suggestion for compensating for the lousy Bass Boost in the manual is to alter the settings of your player on your MP3 device. I don't think this is an acceptable "fix". On my Blackberry, in order to get anything remotely pleasing to the ear, I have to choose a setting of "reduced bass". But when I pair my Blackberry with any other music streaming device the sound quality is lousy because of the setting and I have to go in and change it. Additionally, for programs like Slacker Radio, there isn't even an option for changing the settings on the Blackberry so I'm stuck with full-throttle, lousy, proprietary Bass Boost.
If there had been an option built into the speakers to turn this off I would be giving this product 4 stars. And if the speakers automatically paired when in proximity and turned on, I would have given them 5 stars.
The volume isn't anything to write home about but then again I wasn't expecting that from speakers this size. They are adequate for in house use (my kitchen) or sitting on the back deck. I don't know that they would fit the bill for a decent sized cookout but haven't tried so don't know for sure.
If I didn't already have another set of portable speakers to compare with, I probably would have been pleased with these. But my no-name, $25 speakers actually sound better, are more portable and have a "3D" sound effect that can be turned on and off on the speakers themselves, and the "3D" sound effect actually greatly improves the quality of the music without me having to change settings on my Blackberry.
I'll be returning these and trying another product...most likely the Altec Lansing. They were the first speakers that caught my eye so hopefully they'll be more in line with my expectations.
As one last note, I am not an audiophile by any stretch...I don't consider myself to be overly picky with the quality of my music. I do think I have a "sensitive" ear when it comes to bass, however. I don't mind "natural" bass in my music, but enhanced bass is not for me.

The item fully satisfies my needs however it's real specifications does not meet the ones written in the product description. according to specs it should be able to transmit for 10 meters in open room, however in my case transmission was limited to 4 miters when the receiver was in direct visibility. it was enough in my case but if you want to transmit from another room, forget about it.
another problem is that when the battery gets discharged the transmission range shortens even more. and you can't charge it and transmit at the same time it stops transmitting the moment you plug in the USB cable to charge it.

I am by no means an audiophile, but I was very impressed with these headphone from Sony. As others have said the Bass is by no means deep, but it is acceptable for headphones. Music listening was a joy with these as I was able to move around my house and still be connected (Isn't Bluetooth great). My main reason for getting them was to listen to movies and TV on my desktop and laptop, the pairing was a cinch with both of my computers. The sound quality was very good for both movies and TV, there was also no lag that I noticed between the headphone sound and the actors lips (sometimes happens with wireless things). The fit of these headphones was perfect for my head, they fit snugly but not too tight, they stayed put with movement (Standing, walking, head bobbing to music). Overall I am very happy with these Sony Bluetooth Headphones, I would recommend these to anyone looking for a nice low cost wireless alternative for use with a PC.

Sony DR-BT21IK/B Wireless Transmitter and Bluetooth Headset for iPod Review

Sony DR-BT21IK/B Wireless Transmitter and Bluetooth Headset for iPod
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I'll have to say Sony has a great product on their hands here. The problem is they don't tell you this at all, neither on the box, on their website, in this listing on amazon or other reviews I have read.
Pros:
-Easy to setup
-Best sound quality out of all bluetooth headphones tested-comparable to a about a $50 pair of wired headphones (good bass, a little scratchy when you have it really loud, great mids and highs)
-Versatility (explained below)
-Most comfortable behind the ear bluetooth headphones, also the lightest, comparable to the weight and comfort to other sony behind the ear wired headphones
-Battery life is very good
Cons:
-Foldable aspect makes them a bit delicate, little worried that could be a problem in the future
-Play/Pause/Forward/Backward control for music is a little tricky and small
Versatility:
What everyone including Sony fails to tell you is these headphones can replace all of the following: your bluetooth headset for your phone (if your phone has bluetooth), your bluetooth headphones for your cell phone (if it supports this profile), headphones for your computer (if it has bluetooth), mic for your computer, allowing you to chat with your friends wirelessly. Also you can use the ipod transmitter to connect your ipod to other bluetooth enabled devices, like your stereo system in your home entertainment system, that is if it supports it. The headphones/headset has a built in microphone, giving you the ability to use the whole system for talking to people on your computer and cell phone. I tested it with multiple systems and I was well impressed. Also worked great on my macs. Another feature not mentioned is while listening to music on your phone, you can receive a phone call, and then go right back to listening to music. The last thing I need to test is if I can have my phone and ipod connected at the same time and it pauses your music when a call comes in.
The beauty of this product is it can be used in so many manners, it ends up replacing so many things. The cost is well justified when you realize it replaces the headphones for your ipod and computer, the bluetooth headset for your phone (easily $60) and mic for your computer. On top of it all what it replaces, it ends up being wireless, making it so much easier and convenient to work while enjoying your music or talking.
Five stars to Sony, now get your marketing department to realize the product you have and bring the price to exactly $99.95 retail and you'll sell tons of these.
Highly Recommended Accessory:
Case Logic makes this case for GPS units, where the DR-BT21IK/B happen to fit perfectly in it. It is made of durable and secure leather and vinyl, very hard to help protect your investment. Because of the folding plastic, I recommend this case (I just got mine from my local computer store this evening) to protect the hinges cause I can see when traveling with the headphones, those could easily get crushed.

Sony DRBT100CX/BLU Ear Bud Style Stereo Bluetooth Headset Review

Sony DRBT100CX/BLU Ear Bud Style Stereo Bluetooth Headset
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I had reservations about this product when I purchased it on-line, but I had been searching for a wireless or semi wireless stereo headset that fits my modest but specific requirements, so I tried it out, and I really like it.
Unlike other Bluetooth stereo headset devices I have tried, this little unit has great range. Others I've tried had a difficult time streaming audio at the distance from my head to my hand with my arm extended at 90 degrees, which is of little use to me. With the DRBT100CX, I can place my mobile device in my pocket or even walk away from it an easy 30 meters with excellent streaming clarity.
The ear buds fit comfortably and I can manually adjust the amount of ambient noise I want to hear by adjusting how snugly I put them in my ears. This is important because there are times you need to be aware of the sounds around you, and there are times you just want to drown everything out. And because the ear buds are corded, the Bluetooth transmitter doesn't have to be pressed against the back of my skull or hanging behind my ear; I can clip it to my shirt sleeve or waist band. While the precise health risks of Bluetooth transmissions are somewhat unknown, I'd just as soon limit the proximity to my head.
It's extremely light weight with a compact form factor, and the simplicity of the miniature joystick control is brilliant, even for my huge hands and fingers. So far, it appears to be quite efficient with power usage, and I love that it recharges via USB, with the USB charge cable included.
There is one item that I would consider to be a significant design flaw that Sony should fix if they design another (even smaller) version, and I hope that they do. The built-in, plastic spring loaded clip used to clip it onto your cloths, etc., is far too flimsy for even casual use. On my unit, the clip broke off at the hinge and it's just too tiny and delicate to attempt any type of lasting repair. I happened to have a small Velcro strap with a metal clip on it, the kind you might see threaded through the hole of an identification badge clipped to one's jacket lapel, which works perfectly for me, actually better than the original.
The price seems a bit high, but because this unit fits my needs, I use it all the time, so I'm comfortable that it was a good purchase. I have to deduct from the rating, not just because my clip broke, but because Sony should have given more realistic consideration to the design, for that price.

These are probably the worst headphones I have ever used. The seller was good, sent them instantly but the product is horrible. They claim to be stereo but theres no way, I don't even think these are good enough to classify as mono. It sounds as if you are listening to someone playing a staticy radio in the next room. No bass what so ever, the only thing you can hear clearly is the constant high pitch whine coming from them even when theres no audio being played... it's still there making your ears bleed. I went too cheep I guess, I just really didn't imagine them being this bad, I suppose you get what you pay for but these aren't even usable, don't waste your money even if it's not that much. Your ears will thank you for not subjecting them to this. Also the tower for some reason didn't come with a power cord and needed batteries, a huge pointless waste just like this product.

Motorola MOTOROKR S9 Bluetooth Stereo Headphones Review

My initial review was great -- I said "I really love these headphones. They are comfortable, make a quick bluetooth connection with my Ipod (just add a bluetooth dingle like Sony's and an armband Ipod holder) or anything else bluetooth, and provide good quality sound for workouts. They have their minuses -- you can't get them wet, so people with sweaty ears should not buy them, and they are not well made so if the set you get doesn't work right don't wait to return them. But there is no better set of wireless bluetooth headphones available, and it is just great to have your music with you when you run without worrying about wires. The controls on the headset are very easy to operate too."
I stick with what I said before about liking wireless headsets and easy to operate controls, but let me repeat these ARE NOT WELL MADE. My FOURTH set just broke - will no longer take a charge -- and I give up. They always break, always. Sony's headsets are more expensive, but sound just as good, and I will bet they are more durable. I would add that although these headphones are reasonably comfortable, the earpiece tends to bounce out of at least one ear when running, and you can't wear these headphones and sunglasses at the same time.

Sony DRBT50 Stereo Bluetooth Headset Review

Sony DRBT50 Stereo Bluetooth Headset
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
These headphones do provide vastly superior sound quality to any of the other bluetooth headphones I've tried. This is understandable as there is almost a $100 difference between these and any other headset I've tried..
But that difference in price was more than worth it as I no longer feel as though I'm compromising sound quality and comfort.
Pros:
- I use them 7+ hours a day with little to no ear fatigue.
- Very clean sound with responsive bass. I listen mostly to electronic music with lots of bass and these do not leave me wanting. The difference between these and other headsets I've tried (some even wired) is huge.
- The battery easily lasts an entire work day without need for recharge. (the manual says the batteries will last ~17 hours of continual use and I don't doubt it)
- Replaceable battery! I haven't seen this in many bluetooth headsets. Although it is not designed such that the battery can be easily replaced, there are instructions in the manual should replacement become necessary.
- Pair with up to 8 bluetooth devices. Most headsets stop at 2 or 3.
- Easy to use controls. The control buttons are easily told apart by touch. (there's even a music folder navigation button for devices that support it)
- Effective PASSIVE noise cancellation. as in they're muffs. they just block out outside sound and block it well.
- Built-in mic of decent quality for voice calls.
- Works perfectly with my Samsung SPH-M620 (UpStage) cell phone.
though any cell phone with the A2DP and AVRCP bluetooth profiles should work fine.
Note to Mac users: OSX 10.4 does not natively support the A2DP bluetooth profile (though there is a hack to get it working) but 10.5 (Leopard) will, so you should be able to pair these to a mac running 10.5
I think Windows Vista does have built-in A2DP support. As long as your PC supports bluetooth, these should pair up just fine.
Cons:
- susceptible to interference from other electronic devices that operate in the 2.4Ghz wireless spectrum. (wireless internet, some wireless phones, and other bluetooth devices). Of course, no bluetooth headset is immune to this. There is no loss in sound quality, they may just cut out if interference is extreme.
- the fast forward/rewind switch is perhaps just a tad to easy to accidentally hit while going for the volume control.
- I'm getting a permanent groove in my hairdo.
If you're willing to drop a little extra, I believe these headphones will more than make up the difference.

Bluetooth Stereo Gateway DC800 Bluetooth Adapter for Home Stereo Review

Bluetooth Stereo Gateway DC800 Bluetooth Adapter for Home Stereo
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I use this most of the time to connect the Bluetooth audio output from my iMac to the stereo, so that I can listen to internet radio using real speakers. The computer and the stereo are in different rooms, not even adjacent rooms, and the DC800 has no difficulty connecting to the Mac. Sound quality is very good; I have not had the problems that some other reviewers mentioned about sound quality.
The DC800 will do more, though. I can listen to whatever the stereo is playing, such as broadcast TV or a DVD, via Bluetooth headphones (I use Motorola BT820s). I can listen to my iPod through the stereo using a tiny Bluetooth iPod adapter (from Sony) that attaches via the iPod's docking connector. Now, it's easy to connect an iPod to a stereo by just plugging a stereo cable into the iPod's earphone jack, but then you have to leave the iPod near the stereo or use a long cable. With a Bluetooth connection, you can sit across the room, holding the iPod, and use the iPod's controls to select music. You'll also need some sort of remote for the stereo's volume control, because the volume setting on the iPod has no effect on the volume of the Bluetooth connection, at least using the Sony adapter.
The DC800 was easy to set up and easy to pair with the Bluetooth devices I have. It has no controls other than a power switch (I leave it on all the time) and a button to press for pairing. It just works.
One thing it WON'T do is two Bluetooth sessions at once. I can't play the computer's sound through the stereo via Bluetooth and at the same time listen to the stereo's output via Bluetooth headphones. There's no real need to do this (just pair the headphones directly with the computer), but I tried it to see if it works -- it doesn't.
I definitely recommend this product.

I bought two of these adapters. I recived them within a week and one worked as it should and the other did not. The return process is a bit of a hassle and I haven't yet recieved the replacement (however, it's only been a few days). The one that works operates well and has good range in open space. A major problem for me is that the battery seems to only last about 1.5 hours before the sound begins to drop out occaisionally. Overall the quality is mediocre and performance is reasonable for the price. I would probably advise a friend to spend a little more and try a different adapter.
Update the one that I could get to work has quit after 2 weeks. The one that did not work originally was sent back 2 weeks ago with no response from the manufacturer. Junk and Junk. Don't buy this get something else.

Motorola 89015J Dc800 Bluetooth Stereo Gateway Review

Motorola 89015J Dc800 Bluetooth Stereo Gateway

I recently upgraded my hearing aids to a pair of Phonak aids and I purchased the phonak iCom. I did this so I could make a blue tooth pairing with my cell phone. With the Motorola Dc800 Bluetooth Stereo Gateway I am also able to hear my stereo, my TV, etc. in stereo through my hearing aids. I do not have to turn the volume up a drive the rest the family out of the room. Late at night if I want I can watch listen to music without anyone else hearing it. And I have stereo pumped through my hearing aids as I walk around the house. This is freedom for hearing aid patients like me.

GE 99004 Bluetooth Home Stereo Transmitter and Receiver Review

GE 99004 Bluetooth Home Stereo Transmitter and Receiver
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
What a wonderful toy! Any audio you can listen to on your A2DP bluetooth-enabled computer can be easily streamed to your home stereo system.
I bought this particular Bluetooth module because:
a. it can act as either a transmitter or a receiver by flipping a switch and
b. it has both front panel buttons and and IR remote, allowing the box to send AVRCP commands (pause/fwd/back/vol) back to the bluetooth transmitter.
I programmed my universal remote (Harmony) to replace the GE mini-remote.
Pros:
I use the box mainly to stream music from a Dell e1505 laptop to my home stereo and the sound quality is absolutely fantastic. I've run it for several hours straight with no disconnect problems.
Cons:
This could be an issue with my laptop, but sometimes the GE Bluetooth box stays in "connected" mode even after the laptop is put in standby. The result is that I can't reconnect the laptop until I power-cycle the Bluetooth box (unplug/plug-in). I probably need to do a bluetooth disconnect before going into standby mode...
Also, the aforementioned AVRCP commands don't seem to work with iTunes, but they do work with Windows Media Player.

I ordered this item because I wanted to be able to watch TV in bed while my wife slept. Its great product but not for watching TV or video. There is a delay in the sound, it's like watching an old Godzilla movie, the people's mouth move and then you hear their voices. I tried it on three other TVs my laptop and my Zen video player and got the same results. I guess this is why they call it a Bluetooth Music Transmitter.

Sony Two-Way Bluetooth Adapter for iPod and MP3 Players Review

Sony Two-Way Bluetooth Adapter for iPod and MP3 Players

This is a very cool gadget, that adds a Bluetooth interface to anything with either audio-in or audio-out jacks.
For example, receiver side of this device will connect your home/car/boat stereo to your Bluetooth-enabled MP3 player (like the one built into the RAZR V3xx and V3i mobile phones) allowing you to play your MP3s through the stereo's amp and speakers.
The transmitter side makes it possible to listen to the TV over Bluetooth headphones, just plug this thing in to the audio output jacks (found on most cable converters, DVD players, etc.)
In short, it makes your older audio devices available via Bluetooth, in just about every way you can imagine.
A couple of quick usage notes:
1.) To put it into pairing mode you must hold it's ID button for 7 seconds while it is powered *off*. You can hold it all day long after it's powered on, without changing a thing.
2.) The female audio jacks built into it are pretty stiff, you have to push it in until it clicks, and it takes a little more force than usual. (btw, its package does not RCA jack adapters, as is suggested in some of the product's literature, but those adapters are both cheap and readily available.)
3.) It's documentation states it can store 8 pairings with other devices, but does not indicate whether its transmitter is capable of connecting to more than one device at a time (which would be most functional, for sure.) At the moment I only have one device that supports A2DP (as a receiver, so until I get another, it's wait-and-see, I suppose... (I'll be pleasanty surprised if it does support more than one concurrent receiver, but what the heck: dare to dream.)
